Server Latency and Partial Outage

Tuesday, November 30, 2021

Category: Maintenance

We experienced a partial system outage, affecting our server network without load-balancing and co-location configurations on November 30th, 2021 between 2.43pm ET and 3.32pm ET. Services got restored approx. 3.32pm ET.
The outage was caused by a DNS server issue leading up to our hosting provider.
Data security, databases orstored files have not been compromised.
All clients were informed about the parial outage.

We apologize for any inconvenience.

UPDATE: The latency was caused "upstream" by a nation-wide outage of Level 3 Communications, a US-based backbone internet provider, operating under the name CenturyLink. It provides Internet service via their Tier 1 network to Internet carriers in Europe, Asia, and North America. It provides internet cable networks within the US, connecting many hosting centers. The outage affected access to Yahoo Mail, PSN, Xbox Live, Outlook, BT, Twitch, HBO Go, Craigslist, and other networks/services.
